Jhalana Leopard Reserve sits inside Jaipur city, in the Aravalli hills, just 8–12 km from the old city. Once the
hunting ground of the Jaipur royal family, it was declared India’s first leopard reserve in 2017 and today holds
one of the densest leopard populations anywhere, with around 35–40 leopards in roughly 20 sq km of dry
deciduous forest.
Guests explore the reserve in an open 4×4 Gypsy with a forest-department driver. Beyond leopards, the
reserve supports striped hyena, desert fox, golden jackal, nilgai and more than 200 bird species, including
Indian eagle-owl and crested serpent eagle. Because it is minutes from Jaipur hotels, it slots easily into
Golden Triangle and Rajasthan itineraries without a separate overnight stay.
